The brant festival all began with a newspaper article in 1990. It has since grown into a yearly event with many activities and all centered around a celebration of the Brant geese and a connection to nature.

There are numerous bird watching, identifying and feeding events that the everyone can take part in.

March 30, Birding Walk at Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park 

Begins at 9 am with a low admission fee of 1.00 and meeting at the main parking lot and Arrowsmith naturalists will lead the way

April 3, 10 & 16, Guided Station Tours

The Deep Bay Marine Field Station, more info here  This is a must to see, most people are impressed with all the offerings here. Admission is 12.00 but well worth it. Check out the Orca skeleton


April 5, Little Qualicum River Estuary Tour

BCCF and Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers for a one to two hour tour of the Little Qualicum River estuary regional conservation area – key wildlife habitat for fish and birds.


April 7 & 8, Pacific Brant & Carving Show 

Check out the amazing wood carvings – Vancouver Island Woodcarvers Club . Poster for this event is here
